CCL Clerk Sentenced to 3 Years Jail for Bribery in Ranchi
Ranchi: A special CBI court in Ranchi on Tuesday sentenced CCL former clerk Mohammad Mahfooz Alam to three years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The convict, while posted at CCL Barka Sayal area, demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the widow of a former CCL employee for processing the latter’s payment of leave encashment. Following a complaint lodged by her brother, the CBI caught Alam red-handed while accepting the bribe.
